City of Santa Monica Announces Temporary Production Parking Restrictions for Beach Lots

The City of Santa Monica’s Parking Operations Department has announced temporary restrictions for the use of beach parking lots for production parking due to multiple special events and the upcoming Spring Break. Beginning February 20th, 2014 all Santa Monica Beach parking lots will not be available for production use. The restriction is slated to end on Friday, March 21st, 2014.

Beach parking lots will be off-limits for base camp and crew parking during this period making it necessary for productions to search out alternative locations this purpose. Production companies may park vehicles at lots on a “pay as you go” basis.

Companies choosing this option must comply with the following:

o All vehicles parking in the lot must fit in legally designated spaces

o Lots are to be utilized for “Vehicle Parking ONLY” (Base camping, setting up tables, chairs, tents, wardrobe, catering, etc… is prohibited)

o Lots 3 North, 4 South & 5 South can accommodate some larger vehicles (such as an RV), with the stipulation that vehicle utilize the “pay as you go” option and be parked a legal space

o Paying the parking machine 3 times the daily rate does not constitute a parking contract and will not be honored nor will refunds be issued.
