Councilmember Alarcon to Protect Film Industry

Councilmember Alarcon to Protect Film Industry

I wanted to let you know that today Counclmember Richard Alarcón introduced a resolution in SUPPORT of the PROTECT IP Act (Preventing Real Online Threats to Economic Creativity and Theft of Intellectual Property) Act of 2011 (S.968) and the Stop Online Piracy Act (H.R. 3261).  As these bills have tremendous support in the film industry and creative community, we wanted to let you know that this resolution was introduced.  I have included our press release (below) and a copy of the resolution is attached to this email.

We expect this resolution to come to the Intergovernmental Relations Committee (IGR) in January, and we would love your written or verbal comments in support of these resolutions.

Thank you for all that you do to create jobs and provide entertainment.  Let me know if you have any questions, comments or concerns.  Also, please let me know if you would like to participate in getting the Council to support these bills.  I will be in touch once we know when the item will be in Committee.

Happy Holidays,
Becca Doten
